Visa for Indonesia

You are going on a trip to Indonesia, but Before you board the plane, it is important to arrange the right visa for Indonesia. In this blog you can read everything you need to know about the different visa options, costs, application procedures and useful tips.

What visa do you need?

For a holiday to Bali, you need a visa as a Dutch or Belgian citizen. There are several options, depending on how long you want to stay:

1. Visa on Arrival (VoA)

This is the most used option for tourists and families who want to stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days . You can easily obtain this visa upon arrival at Bali airport.

  • Costs : €35 per person (also for children)
  • Validity : 30 days
  • Extension : Can be extended once for 30 days (at an immigration office or through a visa agent)
  • Supplies :
    • Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
    • Proof of an exit or onward ticket
    • Payment by cash or credit card possible

2. E-VOA (Electronic Visa on Arrival)

Want to avoid queues? You can apply for an E-VOA online in advance via the official website of the Indonesian Immigration Service.

  • Costs : €35
  • Validity : 30 days
  • Extension : Yes, once for 30 days
  • Application : Via https://imigrasi.go.id/
  • Processing time : Approved within a few days

3. Visit Visa B211A (for longer stays)

For families who want to stay in Bali for more than 60 days, the B211A Visit Visa is a better option. This visa must be applied for before departure and is often arranged through a visa agent.

  • Costs : From €150- €300, depending on the agent
  • Validity : 60 days
  • Extension : Can be extended three times for 60 days (up to a maximum stay of 180 days)
  • Application : Online via an agent or at an Indonesian embassy in The Hague or Brussels.

4. KITAS (long-term residence permit)

If you want to live in Bali as a family for a longer period of time (for example for work or study), you need a KITAS . This is a residence permit that is usually arranged by a sponsor (employer or school).

Important tips

  • Exit ticket : Make sure you have a flight ticket to leave Indonesia within the visa period. This is often checked at immigration.
  • Arrange extension : Do you want to stay longer? Begin the extension procedure at least 7 days before the expiration date .
  • Using a Visa Agent : If you don’t want to go to the immigration office yourself, you can use a visa agent. It costs extra, but it will save you a lot of time.
  • Rules change : Always check the latest visa rules on the Indonesian embassy or immigration website.

Conclusion

For most families, the Visa on Arrival or E-VOA is the best and easiest option. If you want to stay longer, a B211A Visit Visa is recommended. Make sure you plan your application and any extensions well, so you can enjoy your time in Bali without any stress!
